Supreme Court Appeals on Imran Khan’s Medical Matters Face Continued Delays

According to Advocate Khalid Yousaf, two separate matters relating to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s medical rights remain pending before the Supreme Court, raising fresh concerns over delays in the administration of justice.

In Crl. M.A. No. 1696/2026, Dr. Uzma Khan vs District Lecetion Commissioner & Others, filed through counsel Uzair Karamat Bhandari, the application submitted by Imran Khan’s sister, Dr. Uzma Khan, regarding medical issues has been assigned a number. However, despite the passage of time, the matter has yet to be fixed for hearing.

In a separate matter, Diary No. 10759/2026, Imran Khan vs Registrar, Supreme Court, a chamber appeal challenging the same medical order was filed on 21 May 2026. Although the vakalatnama has been attached and repeated follow-ups have reportedly been made, the appeal has still not been assigned a regular case number.

Both appeals challenge the 12 March 2026 order of the Islamabad High Court, which addressed Imran Khan’s medical examinations without permitting the presence of his personal physicians.

Advocate Khalid Yousaf has expressed concern that procedural delays in assigning case numbers and fixing hearings are effectively preventing timely adjudication of matters involving an individual’s medical rights. Justice delayed can amount to justice denied, particularly when issues relating to health and access to appropriate medical care remain unresolved.

The continued pendency of these appeals has intensified questions about whether due process is being afforded without unnecessary delay in matters involving fundamental rights and access to justice.
