Power of Attorney and appeal documents required for filing an appeal in the Supreme Court in the Al-Qadir Trust case were delivered to Adiala Jail authorities on Monday, 25 May 2026, at approximately 1:30 PM.
The documents require the signature of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in order to complete the legal process and enable the filing of the appeal before the Supreme Court. However, despite the documents having been received by jail authorities before the commencement of Hajj and Eid holidays, the signing process has yet to be completed.
Legal observers and PTI representatives have raised concerns that the continued delay is obstructing Imran Khan’s constitutional right to pursue legal remedies. They said that the failure to facilitate the signing of the Power of Attorney and appeal papers risks undermining his access to justice and could adversely affect the timely filing of the appeal.
With the holidays now over, the first working day for the collection of the signed documents is today, increasing pressure on jail authorities to ensure that the legal paperwork is processed without further delay.
The repeated administrative hurdles and delays surrounding legal access are part of a broader pattern of restrictions imposed on Imran Khan while he remains incarcerated at Adiala Jail. Any unnecessary delay in facilitating legal documentation directly impacts his right to a fair legal defense and timely access to the courts.
