A legal representative of former Prime Minister Imran Khan has raised serious concerns over what he describes as deliberate barriers preventing his client from exercising his legal rights.
In a statement, Advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudry said efforts to obtain Khan’s signatures on key legal documents including a Power of Attorney have repeatedly been unsuccessful despite multiple prison visits, formal submissions, and courier dispatches to Central Prison Rawalpindi.
According to the counsel, the alleged lack of facilitation has hindered Khan’s ability to pursue legal remedies before the Supreme Court within the required timeframe. He argued that this situation raises significant questions regarding access to legal representation, due process, and the right to a fair trial.
The statement further described the matter as a serious legal and human rights concern, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that all individuals have the opportunity to defend themselves through counsel of their choice.
The counsel has called for immediate judicial attention to address the issue and ensure that legal access is not obstructed.
