Imran Khan’s Sons Raise Concerns at UN Over Detention Conditions

The sons of Imran Khan have raised serious concerns at a United Nations forum regarding their father’s detention, describing it as unjust and inhumane.

Kasim Khan and Sulaiman Khan stated that their father has been incarcerated in a Pakistani jail for nearly 1,000 days under conditions they say violate basic human rights. They highlighted that the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has already declared Imran Khan’s detention arbitrary and called for his immediate release.

They further pointed out that the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture has warned that the conditions of his confinement could amount to torture.

The two called on authorities to ensure immediate access to legal counsel, allow family visits, and provide independent and specialized medical care.

The statement has added to growing international attention on the conditions of Imran Khan’s detention, with calls for adherence to international human rights standards.
