International Human Rights Lawyer Jared Genser Files Urgent UN Appeal Over Imran Khan’s Health

International human rights lawyer Jared Genser has submitted an urgent appeal to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, Tlaleng Mofokeng, seeking immediate intervention on behalf of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In his submission, Genser called on the UN expert to urgently engage with Pakistani authorities, citing serious concerns about Khan’s deteriorating health. According to the appeal, Khan has reportedly lost most of the vision in one eye and has been systematically denied essential medical treatment while in detention.

Genser further argued that the issue extends beyond a single individual, alleging that numerous political prisoners in Pakistan are being denied necessary medical care for serious health conditions. He urged the Special Rapporteur to intervene without delay, stressing that access to adequate healthcare is a fundamental human right.

The appeal marks the latest in a series of international efforts to draw attention to Khan’s medical condition and treatment in custody, adding pressure on authorities to ensure transparency, proper medical evaluation, and adherence to international human rights standards.
