The Imran Khan Situation

The Established Facts

Imran Khan has been held in Adiala Jail since August 2023. Khan himself has repeatedly stated he faces torture, poor conditions, and isolation. Salman Safdar met with Khan a few days ago and publicly confirmed that Khan has effectively lost vision in his right eye.

The Information Fog

Social media is circulating audio purported to be from a Shifa Hospital doctor. Various reports claim Khan received treatment inside Adiala, at Shifa Hospital, or elsewhere. The coordinated information sounds too convenient. Make your own assessment and use your best judgement here. But, the torture narrative matters regardless of which specific details prove accurate. The captors have shown clear intent to harm. Every day Khan stays in illegal detention increases the danger. Waiting for perfect verification while his captivity continues only helps those who want him eliminated.

What Actually Matters

Here’s what we know for certain. Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and Prime Minister-Elect has been held in illegal detention for thirty months. Showering criticism on PTI is the right thing to do because … we don’t need to get into it right now The specifics about which hospital or which doctor treated him are secondary. The core issue is straightforward. Khan’s detention has no legal justification. His confinement violates basic and all human rights. Public attention on Khan right now creates a rare opportunity. Whether through legal pressure, public mobilisation, agitation, or all of it together, this moment requires action to secure his release.

Thirty months of illegal detention is more than enough.
