In a deeply alarming development, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi assured PTI General Secretary and senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja during a meeting that Imran Khan’s medical reports would be provided within one hour. However, despite repeated follow-ups, the reports were never shared. When contacted again, the Registrar of the Supreme Court shockingly responded: “We had already said so, now what can we do if the reports are not provided?”
Imran Khan is reportedly suffering from Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO), a serious eye condition that can lead to permanent vision loss. Despite the gravity of his illness, his family and personal doctors have been denied access, and his current health condition remains unknown.
This incident raises serious questions about the enforcement of Supreme Court orders and the rule of law. Even after direct intervention by the Chief Justice, the failure to implement assurances has exposed a disturbing state of helplessness or unwillingness at the highest judicial level.
The continued denial of medical transparency and access is not just a legal failure, but a grave human rights concern, further deepening fears for Imran Khan’s health and safety in custody.
