Barrister Salman Safdar, legal counsel for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, has formally written to Chief Justice Safraz Dogar, urging the court to urgently schedule pending appeal cases against his clients.
In the letter, Barrister Safdar emphasized that repeated efforts have been made to have the appeals fixed for hearing, but the relevant branch responsible for scheduling cases has allegedly failed to do so. He described the continued delay as deeply concerning, particularly in light of what he termed as “political targeting” of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi.
The letter further notes that the holy month of Ramadan is approaching, and requests that the appeals be scheduled and heard before its commencement. According to the counsel, timely hearings are essential to prevent further injustice and unnecessary prolongation of the matter.
Barrister Safdar also included complete details of the sentences awarded to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, underlining the urgency of judicial review. He argued that continued delays not only affect the legal rights of the accused but also raise serious questions about fairness and due process.
