Proceedings in former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cases at the Islamabad High Court have effectively come to a standstill. In the Al-Qadir Trust case, nearly ten months have passed since petitions seeking suspension of sentence were filed, yet the matter remains frozen at zero progress. Despite notices being issued, the court has not advanced the case even a single step.
Earlier, hearings were at least scheduled before being delisted; now, the cases are not being fixed for hearing at all. This prolonged inaction has fueled growing public concern and strengthened the perception that legal pressure is being used to push Imran Khan into difficult circumstances in an attempt to force a political deal. Observers note that the role of the current judiciary is increasingly being questioned amid this continued delay.
