In a recent communication from Adiala Jail, former Prime Minister Imran Khan provided an update on his health and the ongoing political repression he faces. Imran Khan assured that he is in good health, thanks to daily exercise and reading books, but expressed deep anger over his prolonged solitary confinement.
Aleema Khan, speaking with Sky News, reported that Imran Khan highlighted that law stipulates no one should be kept in solitary for more than four days, yet he has been held in isolation for over seven weeks. His sister, Uzma Khan, during a brief visit, mentioned that Imran Khan described Asim Munir as a petty man responsible for these actions, enforcing what he calls “Asim Law.” He called the current regime a dictatorship, emphasizing that Khan was only allowed to meet his family due to street power and public support.
The former Prime Minister rejected an offer made to him after four days of his arrest on August 4, 2023, by the establishment to leave Pakistan. Instead of accepting the offer, Imran Khan stated that he would face cases. Currently imprisoned on a single case that has fallen apart midway, Khan remains a symbol of resistance, representing approximately 90% of the country’s population.
The authorities are not after Imran Khan himself but aim to suppress the voices of the Pakistani people. Despite efforts to isolate him and hope that the public would forget him, Khan’s supporters remain steadfast. The regime’s actions, Khan suggests, are driven by fear of losing control.
