by Advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudry

Behind each point is a systematic effort to prevent Imran Khan’s messages from being circulated, with a focus on restricting those involved in assisting and spreading his messages (social media).

This case against Imran Khan’s Twitter messages has been filed in the Islamabad High Court by Wajid Gilani, a member of the cabinet, Executive Gulam Murtaza Khan, through the well-known PML-N lawyer and leader, Barrister Zafarullah Khan. The court has been requested to issue the following orders:

Declaration of the illegal nature of Imran Khan’s tweets:
To declare that the “tweets” published from Imran Khan’s account while in jail are illegal, unconstitutional, and against Pakistan’s laws.

Order for investigation and restrictions:

    • To instruct the Cyber Crime Agency and Telecommunication Authority to immediately identify, investigate, and stop individuals/teams responsible for posting these tweets on behalf of Imran Khan.
    • To direct PTA to block/remove all tweets uploaded from the aforementioned account.

    Compliance with jail rules:
To instruct the Jail Superintendent to strictly enforce jail regulations to ensure that no prisoner illegally operates social media accounts.

    Direct prohibition:

      • To directly instruct Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi to immediately cease this illegal and unconstitutional activity.
      • To instruct Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to refrain from retweeting, sharing, or spreading Imran Khan’s tweets.

      Other miscellaneous orders:
The court may issue any other orders deemed appropriate based on the facts and circumstances of the case.
