Dr. Uzma Khan Files Second Urgent Plea for Early Hearing in Imran Khan Medical Case

27 August 2026

Dr. Uzma Khan has filed a second application before the Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking an urgent hearing of her contempt petition concerning the alleged non-implementation of the Court’s 18 August 2026 order regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s medical treatment.

The application was filed today and has been assigned Diary Number E-H.66223/2026.

The matter concerns the Supreme Court’s order dated 18 August 2026, which directed arrangements for Imran Khan’s medical examination and treatment. Dr. Uzma Khan had subsequently filed a contempt petition alleging that the directions contained in that order were not properly implemented.

According to the application, the contempt petition was previously scheduled for hearing on 16 September 2026 after an earlier request for early fixation was not accepted.

The new application argues that the matter should not be delayed until September because it concerns the health and wellbeing of a 73-year-old prisoner and the enforcement of an order issued by the country’s highest court.

Request for Hearing This Week or Early Next Week

The application specifically asks the Supreme Court to fix the matter for hearing at the earliest possible date within this week or early next week, rather than waiting until 16 September.

The request states that an urgent hearing is necessary in the interests of:

  • Justice
  • Protection of life and health
  • Enforcement of the Supreme Court’s 18 August order

The application emphasises that the underlying petition is intended to secure the immediate implementation of the Court’s previous medical order.

Second Application for Early Fixation

The filing also formally records that this is the second application submitted by Dr. Uzma Khan seeking early fixation of the matter.

The application was drafted by Uzair Karamat Bhandari, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan, and filed by Syed Rafaqat Hussain Shah, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of Pakistan, on behalf of the applicant/petitioner.

Why the Case Is Being Described as Urgent

The central argument is that the case concerns the health of Imran Khan and the implementation of a judicial order specifically issued in relation to his medical care.

Dr. Uzma Khan’s legal team is therefore asking the Supreme Court to hear the contempt matter substantially earlier than the currently scheduled 16 September date.

The application concludes with a request that the Court fix the petition for hearing within the current week or early the following week, citing the need to protect life and health and ensure due enforcement of the Court’s order.

The application is dated 27 August 2026.
