The Islamabad High Court has issued initial directions in the case concerning the solitary confinement of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, seeking a detailed explanation from prison authorities.
During the proceedings, the court questioned whether the two prisoners had been kept in solitary confinement and, if so, on what legal basis. The court also asked under which law such confinement was ordered, for how long it had continued, and whether it constituted a form of punishment.
The Superintendent of Adiala Jail has been directed to submit a detailed report, along with the relevant jail record, before the court on 6 August.
The case will now proceed after the court reviews the prison authorities’ response and the official records regarding the conditions of detention.
