Islamabad High Court to Hear Imran Khan’s “Twitter Case” as Concerns Raised Over Lack of Access to Legal Counsel

The Islamabad High Court is scheduled to hear the case relating to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s X (formerly Twitter) account on 11 June 2026 at 9:00 AM before Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir.

The petition reportedly seeks the closure of Imran Khan’s X account and requests that certain posts attributed to him be declared anti-state. However, concerns have been raised by his legal team that Imran Khan has not been able to provide instructions in the matter due to the denial of access to his counsel.

According to the information shared by his representatives, Imran Khan remains unaware of the details and proceedings of the case. It has been stated that under the Islamabad High Court’s written order dated 4 November, senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja was to be granted a meeting with Imran Khan to obtain his instructions and prepare an appropriate legal response. Despite the court order, the meeting has not taken place.

Legal representatives argue that the inability of a client to consult with his counsel before a hearing raises serious questions regarding the right to legal representation and the ability to effectively defend oneself in court proceedings.

With the matter set for hearing before the Islamabad High Court, attention is now focused on whether Imran Khan will be afforded an opportunity to consult with his legal team and provide instructions in a case that concerns both his social media presence and allegations carrying significant legal and reputational implications.
