Islamabad High Court Medical Board Decision Challenged in Supreme Court

A two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court’s March 12, 2026 decision to constitute a medical board for former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been challenged in the Supreme Court by his sister, Dr. Uzma Khan.

In her petition, Dr. Uzma Khan argued that Imran Khan’s health condition has become highly sensitive and requires urgent attention. She requested the court to order his immediate transfer to Shifa International Hospital for comprehensive medical examination and treatment. The petition further called for the inclusion of his personal physicians in the medical board to ensure transparency, impartiality, and effectiveness in the medical assessment.

The plea submitted to the Supreme Court includes references to past judicial rulings, newspaper clippings, and official records as supporting evidence. It contends that in previous cases, notably that of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, access to personal doctors, family visits, and specialized medical facilities was granted during his incarceration. It also notes that the Lahore High Court had issued multiple directives regarding his treatment.

The petition further details how Nawaz Sharif was provided full medical and legal facilitation, including permission to travel from Lahore to London for treatment following court approval.

Dr. Uzma Khan has urged the Supreme Court to uphold the principles of justice and constitutional equality by granting Imran Khan the same medical rights and facilities that were extended to other political leaders in the past, ensuring full protection of his health, treatment, and fundamental human rights.
