Delays Persist in Appeal Against Imran Khan’s Conviction

The appeal against the January 2025 conviction of Imran Khan continues to face significant delays, raising concerns over due process and fair trial rights.

According to details shared by Khalid Yousaf Chaudry, a total of 17 hearings have been held so far. However, despite the passage of over a year, formal arguments in the case have yet to commence.

Sources indicate that proceedings have been repeatedly delayed due to various reasons, including the unavailability of the bench and what are described as delaying tactics by the prosecution.

In a related development, the National Accountability Bureau was reportedly fined Rs. 100,000 by the court. However, the fine was allegedly omitted from the written court order, raising further questions.

These delays undermine the constitutional right to a fair trial, a protection guaranteed under the law. Concerns are growing that Imran Khan is not being afforded the due legal process to which he is entitled.
