Concerns over the health and prison conditions of former prime minister Imran Khan have intensified after his sister, Aleema Khan, told that authorities are deliberately restricting family access to conceal the true state of his health.
Speaking to the media, Aleema Khan said the family fears that meetings are being blocked to prevent them from learning the extent of damage to Khan’s eyesight.
“We fear that meetings with Imran Khan are being stopped so that we do not find out what has happened to his eye, and God forbid, whether there is any issue developing in his other eye as well,” she stated.
She further claimed that even the family of Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, was recently denied a meeting. According to her, this restriction came after details about Khan’s health surfaced publicly following a previous meeting.
“Today, Bushra Bibi’s family came but they were not allowed to meet him again. After the last meeting, information about Imran Khan’s health came out, which is why their meetings have also been stopped,” Aleema added.
Legal Strategy and Upcoming Hearings
Aleema Khan also confirmed that the family plans to approach the Supreme Court of Pakistan again regarding the denial of access.
She noted that the Al-Qadir Trust case is scheduled for hearing on March 30, following recent legal developments involving senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan. Efforts are also underway to fix a hearing date for the Toshakhana 2 case.
According to her, bail in these two cases could pave the way for Imran Khan’s release.
“We will approach the Supreme Court again. The Al-Qadir case has been fixed for March 30, and we will try to have the Toshakhana 2 case scheduled as well. If bail is granted in these two cases, Imran Khan’s release will be possible,” she said.
Ongoing Concerns
The latest remarks add to a growing list of concerns raised by Khan’s family regarding restricted access, medical transparency, and compliance with court orders, as legal and political tensions surrounding the former prime minister continue.
