Former England cricketer and commentator David Lloyd has publicly voiced support for former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan, urging authorities to act justly.
Speaking about Khan’s situation, Lloyd praised his legacy and expressed concern over the treatment he is receiving. He said:
“Imran Khan is a fabulous man, a world-class cricketer. He doesn’t deserve this. The people in authority, come on, do the right thing.”
Lloyd has joined a growing campaign in which several former international cricket legends are speaking out about what they describe as injustice and inhumane treatment of the former Pakistan captain.
Adding to the concern, reports from Khan’s legal team claim that his health condition has deteriorated significantly, he has lost nearly 85% of his vision while in custody.
Imran Khan, who famously led Pakistan to victory in the 1992 Cricket World Cup, remains one of the most iconic figures in global cricket. His supporters say his contributions to cricket and public life have earned him worldwide respect, prompting increasing calls from the international cricket community for fairness, transparency, and humane medical care.
The statements from Lloyd and other cricket figures have brought renewed international attention to the issue, as voices from the cricket world continue urging authorities to “do the right thing.”
