The Supreme Court of Pakistan has scheduled hearings for 13 different cases involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan on February 9, with proceedings set to begin at 9:00 a.m. The cases will be heard by Bench-I, comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan.
The matters include a mix of criminal petitions, civil review petitions, and civil leave petitions, covering a wide range of legal issues such as bail cancellations, election disputes, corruption references, the Toshakhana case, the Cipher case, NAB proceedings, and defamation-related litigation.
Among the criminal petitions are several filed by the State seeking cancellation of bail granted to Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Imran Khan, in cases involving alleged offences under the Pakistan Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Other petitions challenge orders passed in election-related cases, including those questioning the legality of complaints that led to Imran Khan’s conviction and subsequent disqualification from contesting elections.
The Supreme Court will also hear petitions related to the Cipher case, including appeals filed by the State against Imran Khan’s acquittal, as well as a petition concerning the framing of charges under the Official Secrets Act. Additional matters include NAB-related proceedings, where bail and conviction issues remain pending, and petitions arising from the Al-Qadir University Trust case.
On the civil side, the bench will take up review petitions and civil leave petitions linked to defamation proceedings involving Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, including issues related to the right of defence, framing of issues, recording of evidence, and impleadment of the Punjab government as a party.
