Imran Khan’s Family Raises Fresh Concerns as Govt Denies Access to Personal Doctors and Relatives During Medical Examination

Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has expressed serious concerns over the government’s refusal to allow independent medical oversight during her brother’s examination.

According to the family, their demand has remained clear from the outset: Imran Khan should be examined and treated by specialist doctors at Shifa International Hospital in the presence of his personal physician, Dr. Asim Yousaf, along with a family representative.

The family claims that the government rejected the specialist initially recommended by their doctors. In response, alternative names were provided. Dr. Uzma Khan was first nominated to represent the family, but authorities reportedly stated that Imran Khan’s sisters would not be permitted and asked for another name. The family then proposed their cousin, Dr. Nausherwan Burki, but his name was also rejected.

While Aleema Khan termed the repeated rejections “unacceptable,” the continued refusal to allow either his personal doctors or close family members to be present has raised broader questions.

Government has not publicly explained why it is denying access to individuals chosen by the family, particularly when those individuals are qualified medical professionals. The lack of transparency has fueled speculation about what authorities may be seeking to prevent.

Concerns have also resurfaced regarding Imran Khan’s previous health complaints. In October last year, he reportedly raised concerns about an eye issue, and critics argue that adequate medical attention was not provided at the time. Given that background, the current restrictions have intensified doubts about his present health condition.

Political analysts say that without a clear and detailed explanation from officials, questions will continue to grow: Is his health condition more serious than publicly acknowledged? Or is there another reason behind restricting the presence of trusted doctors and family members?
