Barrister Salman Safdar has made a significant revelation regarding ongoing legal proceedings involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to Safdar, appeals seeking cancellation of bail and other relief granted to Imran Khan are being fixed for hearings, despite the fact that no formal applications, appeals, or petitions have been filed by the government in those cases. He questioned how such matters are being scheduled for hearing when, he claims, there is no record of the state filing any challenge against the relief previously granted to the former premier.
At the same time, Safdar pointed out that appeals filed against Imran Khan’s convictions are not being scheduled for hearing. He described the situation as unusual and raised concerns over what he termed a “selective” approach in the listing of cases.
Barrister Safdar further questioned whether the court had taken suo motu notice of the cases, asking how the cancellation matters were being fixed without any formal petition. He emphasized that if no party has filed an appeal, the legal basis for proceeding with such hearings should be clarified.
The development adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing legal battles faced by Imran Khan, who remains entangled in multiple cases across various courts in Pakistan. Legal experts say the coming hearings could have significant implications for the former prime minister’s legal standing and political future.
