In a display of power abuse, Imran Khan’s sisters and legal team were once again denied access to the former Prime Minister Imran Khan, whose solitary confinement and incommunicado detention continue, raising serious concerns about rule of law and human rights in the country.
Reports state that when the sisters arrived to meet Imran Khan, police blocked their way, prompting them to announce a peaceful sit-in protest. During the night, not only were senior family members and women subjected to intimidation, but children accompanying them were also terrorized, under the oversight of Asim Munir and Maryam Nawaz.
Authorities later assured that the meeting with Imran Khan would take place on Tuesday, 20th January 2026. However, this follows a previous incident on Tuesday, 6th January, when Aleema Khan ended a protest after Alama Raja Nasir and Mehmood Khan Achakzai assured that a meeting would be allowed the next Tuesday, 13th January. That promise, like many before, reportedly proved to be a false commitment to PTI and TTAP leaders by officials.
Human rights advocates have expressed alarm that the judiciary remains under the influence of the establishment, compounding fears that justice is being compromised. Citizens have condemned the repeated denial of access and the alleged brutal treatment of family members, calling it a clear violation of human rights and democratic norms.
